  • Body. shrubb, small trunk often 3-angled, angles acute, more or less winged;
  • Shoots of two types. oblong, to 20 cm long., to 2 cm broad above, tapering below, or spatulate, ovate or lanceolate, serrate-notched, 8-16 cm long., l.5 - 6 cm broad, leaf-green, often bordered red;
  • Areoles with little felt, with solitary or paired bristles;
  • Flowers. not numerous, ca. 1.5 cm long., widely opening, yellow, darker when fading;
  • Ovary. cylindric, without scales
  • Habitat .- Brazil (?).
